MMA RESIN is composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA), butyl methacrylate, and many chemical agents (anti-skinning agent, brightener, toughening agent and weathering agent etc.), put them into the 70-90℃ reaction tank until 20%-40% prepolymerization in 2-3 hours, then add thepolymerization inhibitor for cooling down to semi-translucence viscos liquid resin. The two-component paint produced by MMA resin is called MMA two-component marking paint, and the BPO will be added in site for secondary reaction as curing and drying. MMA resin can be stored for more than 2 years under normal temperature and closed condition without affecting the performance.

MMA Road Marking Paint: It’s a kind of paint that uses MMA resin as the main film-forming material, adding a certain percentage of BPO during construction, cures and dries through chemical reaction.The quantity of BPO used in MMA paint is generally 1~3%.The drying time of chemical reaction can be adjusted and controlled manually according to the temperature. Please don’t use benzene diluent for attenuation the viscosity. (Once using benzene diluent, the paint will be stopped from polymerization, and the paint can’t be use.)

There are two types of MMA road marking paint: 1:1 and 98:2. The paint will be divided as components A and B, adding BPO to component B with fully stirring before construction. If the quantity of components A and B is same then it’s 1:1 type. At present, it’s more popular to use type 1:1 mixed spraying method in China. Type 98:2 is generally widely used for colorful anti-skid pavement, there is only component A, BPO will be added during the construction site for reaction and curing. The construction method of 98:2 is generally constructed manually in China, because the paint must be fully mixed with BPO and manually screed on pavement within 5 minutes. A slight delay on construction will cause explosion—fire in the packaging barrel. (China don’t have mature equipment for type 98:2)

MMA road marking paint is totally different system with epoxy and polyurethane paint, the reaction principle is different, and the reaction curing time is also different.
