Influence of different road types on adhesion of marking paint
The adhesion
between hot-melt road marking paint and road is the basis of ensuring the excellent
performance of markings. The factors that determine the bonding effect between
marking paint and road surface are not only the performance of paint itself and
construction technology, but also the type of road surface.
1. Cement road
surface
Cement road is
a kind of hydrophilic substance, which has oil repellency and has little
adhesion with petroleum resin contained in hot melt paint. At the same time,
the deformation of cement road surface is small, while the paint is
thermoplastic and rigid in cold weather. It is necessary to use primer in order
to make the cement road and paint better bonded together.
2. Asphalt road
surface
The new
asphalt road surface is rich in asphalt organic matter, and the construction
temperature of hot melt marking is 180-220 °c, which is higher than the melting point of asphalt. During the
construction, high-temperature paint will melt the asphalt surface, so that the
two can be firmly combined. Paint and road surface can achieve better
combination effects without primer.
However, for
the old asphalt road, there are a lot of dust, dirt and wear on it. In order to
improve adhesion, it is necessary to use a special primer.
According to
the road types and primer performance, asphalt road generally uses about
100-150 g per square meter, and cement concrete road uses about 200 g per
square meter.
If you want to make the marking have a
longer shelf life, besides the primer, you can also consider using
two-component cold paint and glass beads with better wear resistance and
longevity.
We can offer you high retro-reflective glass
beads for road making paint, MMA resin for 2-component paint, and color glass
beads for swimming pool finish.
