Previous Experimentation and application of
Colored anti-slip pavements in North America
In order to reduce traffic safety problems,
prevent people from slipping on their concrete project, and reduce the friction
between cyclists and motor vehicle drivers, Americans have done a lot of experiments
on colored anti-slip pavements.
Since the mid-1990 s, cities in North America
have been experimenting with the application of colored anti-slip pavements,
mainly to highlight the conflict areas between bicycles and motor vehicles.
From 1997 to 1999, with the support of the Federal Highway Administration, Portland conducted an experiment to build pavement with blue paint or thermoplastics in areas where motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles may collide. The results show that thermoplastic is more durable than blue paint and can effectively reduce the conflict between bicycles and motor vehicles.
That is simple and effective to apply
reflective colored anti-slip aggregates to increase the anti-slip performance
of pavement and distinguish bicycle lane from car lane.
