Different Road Markings Require Different Anti-Skid Values

There are two requirements for anti-skid about road markings:

1.  When the surface wheel pressure driving part is not fully covered, that is, part of the wheel is on the road marking and part of the wheel is on the road surface, the emphasis is on the anti-skid matching of the marking and the road surface. However, as the road ages, the anti-skid value of the road surface itself is also changing, so the anti-skid value requirements when marking on new and old roads are different, and the emphasis is on matching, rather than blindly pursuing a high anti-skid value of the road marking.

This type of marking generally includes road sidelines, lane dividing lines, arrows, text, etc. In this case, the road markings should have the following characteristics:
a)  Clear and identifiable during the day and at night. It should also be reflective, which can give drivers a certain amount of advance identification time when driving at high speeds. It should have appropriate whiteness, reflectivity and stain resistance.
b)   It should own good anti-skid property.
c)   It should have good adhesion to the road surface, sufficient weather resistance, resistance to melted salt, and effective wear resistance.
d)   It should not be too raised on the road surface.
e)    It must not cause cracks in the road surface, thereby causing damage to the roadbed.

Generally speaking, the anti-skid of road marking paint has good performance in dry and sunny weather , but it is not ideal at night and in rainy days, which may be a potential danger of traffic accidents.

2. For the part of the surface where the wheel pressure is completely covered, that is, the wheels are all pressed on the road markings, such as the full-paved colored anti-skid road surface, the requirement for anti-skid should be no less than 65.

The most common type of such road markings is the full-paved or interval colored anti-skid marking. In this case, the marking emphasizes its own high anti-skid property. The material should have the following characteristics:
a)  It should own excellent anti-skid property, especially under wet condition.
b)  It should have good adhesion to the road surface, sufficient weather resistance, resistance to melted salt, and effective wear resistance.
c)   When the road is horizontally painted, the road surface should not be too raised.
d)   It must not cause cracks in the road surface, thereby causing damage to the roadbed.
e)   To ensure good anti-skid property, it should be able to be repeatedly painted.
